Easy back to school wreath tutorial

With summer drawing to a close (and maybe already over for some of you), we’re looking ahead to the first day of school.

Notice how I didn’t say “looking forward to”, which implies excitement.

As a full-time working mom, my routine doesn’t really change during the summer months since my son and daughter go to day-camp all day. We’re still packing lunch boxes and our mornings are as rushed as they are during the school year.

So while my kids enjoy school and are excited to see their friends again, we’re all a little bummed to head back to school and begin fall sports, fundraisers, and homework.

That’s why I made a cute, super easy back to school wreath to add some cheer to our front door. Want to make one too? Just follow my simple tutorial and you’ll have your very own in twenty minutes or less!

How to Make a DIY Back to School Wreath in 3 Simple Steps

All you need is twenty minutes to make this cute back to school wreath! It’s a simple craft you can make while the kids are watching another episode of “Bunk’d” and wishing for summer vacation to last a little bit longer.

Step 1: The first thing to do is to attach the end of the ribbon to the foam wreath with hot glue or a straight pin.

Step 2: Next, wrap the ribbon around the wreath form, taking care to overlap the edges to completely cover the foam. You may need to add a pin or drop of glue along the way to ensure the ribbon is tight and will stay in place. Then, secure the end of the ribbon to the wreath form with another pin or hot glue.

Step 3: Once the wreath is wrapped in ribbon, it’s time to add the adorable accessories! Use your hot glue to add the apples and crayons, then write your welcome message on the chalkboard before attaching it to the wreath. It will be much easier to write on the chalkboard before gluing it on (and you’ll need a generous amount of glue).
