Our fireplace is in our “formal” living room (by formal, I mean that there’s no TV there), and even though we rarely use the room I always decorate the mantel for each holiday. Along with our kitchen’s bookcase, the mantel is an easy spot to decorate because there’s not much required to make it look festive.
If you want to pretty St. Patrick’s Day mantel decor but don’t want to spend a lot of time or money, then these easy crafts are for you! This whole project took thirty minutes – between when my kids demanded a snack and then a drink. 🙂

Sparkly Shamrock Sticker Art
The first so-simple-it’s-silly craft for our St. Patrick’s Day mantel decor is sticker art! To make it, you’ll need:
- Picture frame with matte (I used this one)
- Green scrapbook paper
- Glitter shamrock stickers

gold frame, similar scrapbook paper
Remove the matte from the frame, tape the scrapbook paper to the back to keep it in place, then flip the matte back over. Place the stickers in a pattern you like before you remove the backing to ensure you like their placement.
Then, just adhere the stickers to the scrapbook paper and pop the whole thing back in the frame.
Instant St. Patrick’s Day art!
But, the mantel isn’t complete yet. There are still two more quick crafts to make!

Embellished St. Patrick’s Day Candle Holders
To make a festive “belt” to dress up a plain vase or candle holder, you’ll need:
- Gold glitter ribbon (leftover from the St. Patrick’s Day wreath)
- Felt shamrocks (I found mine at my local JoAnn, and the package included solid lime-green shamrocks and the pretty laser-cut dark green shamrocks.)
- Tacky glue
- Hot glue gun
- Plain glass vase or candleholder

To make the embellished candle holder, first wrap the ribbon around your vase or plain candle holder and cut. Be sure to leave a little length to allow you to glue it later.
Then, add a bit of tacky glue to the back of the laser-cut felt shamrock and stick it on the solid shamrock.
Using your hot glue gun, attach the layered shamrocks to the gold ribbon. Lastly, wrap the ribbon tightly around your candle holder and stick the ribbon onto itself with a dab of hot glue.
Don’t glue the ribbon to the vase so that when St. Patrick’s Day is over you can simply slide the ribbon off and use the candle holder for the next holiday.

Now our St. Patrick’s Day mantel decor is almost done, but we need to make the finishing touch!
Simple DIY St. Patrick’s Day Garland
To make this shamrock garland you’ll need:
- Fishing line
- Felt shamrocks (the same ones used for the candle holder)
- Hole punch
- Mini Command hooks
All there is to do is punch holes at the top of the shamrocks, weave the fishing line through the holes, tie loops on the ends, and hang on your mantel with little Command hooks.

I found the faux moss letter at Michael’s on clearance.

Well, I’ve been looking for idea decoration for St. Patrick’s Day. What do you think if I use sliver instead of gold? Because my theme living room is dark blue already. 😉 Thank you!
