It seems that the biggest obstacle to creativity is time. I love crafting, but dedicating an hour to myself during the week to whip up a project is practically impossible, with a corporate job, two kids, and a husband consuming my time (in a good way!). That’s why I like to focus on quick crafts that take just a few minutes to complete. Because we’re in this whole “creativity with less pressure” thing together, right?
This week’s quick craft is a crazy-simple succulent wreath that you can make in just 5 minutes, and your door will thank you for its new spring decor.
Succulent Wreath Supplies:
- Grapevine wreath
- Faux succulents
- Burlap ribbon (mine is a loose burlap weave with gold threads for a little sparkle)
- Floral wire, fishing line, or extra ribbon to secure the wreath to its hanger
I keep my glue gun in its holster and re-use the same grapevine wreath season after season, which helps to keep the project costs way down.
While you’re in the store shopping for your supplies, arrange the succulents in a way that pleases you by playing around with the different shapes and textures. Then, mock it up again once you get home before you attach them to the wreath.
At this point, you can choose to weave your ribbon around the wreath before adding the succulents, or you can wait, like I did, and add the ribbon after.
When you attach the succulents to the wreath, don’t bother with your glue gun. Just jam the floral picks between the wreath’s vines and bend the ends so they hold tight. You can then adjust the succulents stems until they take the form you want them to.
To attach the ribbon, simply tuck the ends in between the vines.
You are done.
Wasn’t this the simplest succulent wreath of all time? And now you have some lovely spring door decor and plenty of time to spare.
